baroclinic

baroclinic Applied to an atmosphere or air mass in which a temperature (and thus density) gradient exists at a specific isobaric surface, i.e. at a surface of constant pressure. Baroclinic zones therefore exist across fronts, where pressures are equal but temperatures are not. See also BAROTROPIC
