NSW: Female charged over robbery elderly, wheelchair-bound woman

A 24-year-old woman has been charged over the robbery of an elderly, wheelchair-boundwoman in western Sydney.

The 81-year-old woman was returning from a shopping trip to her unit in Bunting Street,Emerton, about 5pm on November 14.

It's alleged she was approached from behind by a woman, who reached over her shoulderand attempted to steal her purse.

The elderly woman resisted and received a cut to her arm, and the assailant fled with the purse.

Mt Druitt police arrested a Whalan woman at a hotel in Emerton at about 8.30am (AEDT) today.

She's been charged with aggravated robbery, demanding money with menaces and makingfalse allegations.

The woman has appeared at Penrith Local Court and has been refused bail.
